MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: deb ice
Deb grew up in NW Indiana, a tom-boy, chasing her brother and cousins. Always active and competing, she continued her passion for sports & nutrition by receiving an Exercise Science/Sports Medicine degree from the University of Louisville. She started her career in corporate fitness at the Yum Brands World Headquarters. Her coaching career started at the University of Louisville, as the Women Track & Field Jump Coach. Little did she know, she would continue coaching, not only her children, but 100’s of others in her 15+ years of volunteer coaching at Holy Spirit School, Revolution Development and Blairwood Tennis & Fitness. She continued her education by receiving 8 specialty certifications in Strength Training, TRX, Group Fitness, Personal Training, Yoga Fitness, Indoor Cycling, Senior Power, Tabita Training, Wilderness First Aid, PMBIA Level 1 & NICA level 1 certifications.
After a serious accident kept her off the bike for months, it became her passion to study and hone the proper MTB skills and techniques to ride safely and teach others. Deb loves the challenge of riding technical trails, and loves an uphill climb.
Deb has a diverse cycling background being a 2x Ironman, and years of competitive Road & Cyclocross racing, along with designing training programs for individuals & teams. When she is not on the trails, she is usually teaching fitness classes or leading a local group as she continues to build a biking program for kids 10 and under and created a women’s only Mountain bike group in Louisville. Her love of biking reaches all age groups, through her volunteer work with Out & About Kentucky, taking elderly people for bike rides. She believes cycling is a lifelong sport and loves sharing her passion of getting more people on BIKES!
